Acne treatment
What is Acne?
Follicles, often called pores, sometimes get blocked. As a result, sebum (your body’s natural oil which normally drains to the skin’s surface) builds up and allows bacteria to grow. These bacteria produce chemical and enzymes and attract white blood cells that cause inflammation. When the wall of the blocked follicle breaks down, it spills everything into the nearby skin, leading to lesions or pimples

Acne treatments at BioDerm
MicroDermabrasion
Tiny crystal particles gently exfoliate away the top layer of the scarred skin, which in turn will stimulate new skin growth. Our professional staff will adjust the abrasion strength as needed depending on the individual skin. A full face treatment typically last about 30 - 40 minutes
Chemical Peel
A chemical solution can help treat acne-scarred skin. This procedure removes the old
scarred skin to make way for the newly skin to surface and thus improving the
appearance of the condition. The chemical peel also exfoliates clogged pores and
destroys the bacteria to prevent acne from forming.
IPL Acne
Acne light treatment is a wonderful option to help destroy the bacteria responsible for
acne. The broad spectrum of light will destroy the acne bacteria for a quick clearance
of current acne breakouts and at the same time, the light penetrates deeper into the
skin and slows down bacteria metabolism to prevent future acne from forming. The
treatment dramatically clears up to 80% or more acne in just a few weeks. This is a
great alternative to conventional treatment such as creams and oral antibiotics. This
offers acne sufferers a drug-free, easy and effective alternative without the side
effects commonly found with medications. Patients have been extremely happy with
the results and enjoy benefits of long lasting clear skin after just a few treatments.
Can Acne be Cured?
No, there is presently no known cure for acne. We can only treat the symptoms of
acne and take reasonable steps to prevent it.
How many treatments are required, and what do they involve? The treatment involves first cleansing the face or affected area. This is followed by an intense light treatment which focuses on the bacteria, yet leaving the skin harm-free and rejuvenated. Following the treatment, your face or treatment area is revitalized by our physician only skin care product line to help rejuvenate, moisturize and protect your skin. An acne light treatment session typically will last 15-30 minutes. The protocol is 2-4 treatments, 1-2 weeks apart. The exact number of treatments is determined on an individual basis.
Is the treatment harmful?
Absolutely not. The light penetrates just deep enough into the tissue to reach the acne
causing bacteria. The energy spares the surrounding tissue, and is absorbed by the
bacteria.
What should I do between treatments?
You should avoid touching or picking your blemishes or acne at all times. In addition,
an anti-bacterial facial cleanser, treatment pads with salicylic acid and a daily
moisturizer with sun protection can compliment the effects of the treatment. |
