Tattoo Removal

BioDerm Skin Care & Laser Center now has a wonderful option for those bothersome tattoos that have now gone out of favor. Don’t let a spur of the moment decision continue to haunt you. We offer a state of the art device that literally draws the ink out of the skin and helps light the tattoo with every treatment.

What is the treatment like?
An laser will be used to destroy the ink located in the deeper parts of your skin, resulting in a lightening of your tattoo. The process does involve 5-8 treatments, spaced 3-4 weeks apart, depending on the size, darkness, color, and complexity of the tattoo, but with every treatment, you will notice a continued lightening of the image, until the tattoo is nearly completely invisible. Although a laser will be used, a numbing cream and or icing of the area is available to minimize any discomfort.

Will I scar?
Usually, there is little to no scarring involved for most patients. Occasionally, if you have a history of large scars forming from minor trauma (keloid formation), the likelihood of scarring my be higher. Otherwise, the procedure is similar to the actual tattoo process you initially endured, and if you did not scar during the tattoo, you have a very low likelihood of scarring during this procedure.

How long does the process take?
Depending on the size of the tattoo, treatments range from 20-30 minutes.

Will the Tattoo be completely gone?
Generally the tattoo is completely removed. Typically, at least a 90-95 % lightening is accomplished, depending on the size, depth, and colors involved. Also, depending on if the tattoo was professionally performed, may required additional treatments since this usually means more ink is in the skin and more evenly distributed. Continued treatments results in continued fading of the tattoo.
